Waterproof Metal Jacket Housing. 100+ Mbits*!
Integral 1-14 mounting adapter as part of the housing!
Bitstorm's BAD BOY Xtreme MJ (Metal Jacket) provides two benefits. While it's fully waterproof (submersible - IP67), its biggest benefit is the metal casing protecting the electronics inside during periods of electrical storm activity. It's a faraday shield blocking both external static and non-static electrical fields.
Xtreme MJ supports the latest Wi-Fi Mode N. That means wireless link speeds in excess of 100 megabits/sec (Mbits)* are now possible! Xtreme N pulls in and locks onto the weakest signals. How do we do this? Just as with our other Xtreme models, by putting the highest power Wi-Fi device available right at and connected directly to the antenna, the antenna cable is eliminated. No cable losses. What this means is that all of the available power (up to 36dBm or 4W EIRP) goes out the antenna for maximum range and best possible reception. And the data goes to your computer via a digital (not analog) outdoor grade shielded cable. And since it's digital, you can locate your Wi-Fi device in the best location up to 300 feet (90 meters) away. Masthead installation with its ideal range and clear line-of-sight is now possible. They put your VHF antenna at the highest place for a reason. The same is true with Wi-Fi. No more compromises!
The biggest problem is often the line of sight that's needed for Wi-Fi. Surroundings that have water, wood and metal all conspire to reduce range. Then there's the miniscule power that laptops put out - you can see the hotspot access point but it can't hear your laptop. Unlike laptops and other mobile devices which put out only 35-50mW, this Bad Boy puts out up to 4W (36dBm) of power to get you connected. And keep you connected!
Compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux... any operating system. Rugged, completely weatherproof and continues operating in extreme temperatures. Select Wi-Fi Access Points through your browser so there's no software to install. Multiple mounting options to choose from. And why not complete your system with an Unleashed rebroadcaster that lets you go completely cable free and use the Wi-Fi already built into your computer.
* Refers to the wireless link speed. The actual speed of the internet connection may be considerably less. While wireless data rates up to 150 Mbits are possible, most hotspots provide a connection to the internet of only a few Mbits.
Note: Xtreme MJ is backward compatible with original Xtreme and Xtreme N and is interchangeable.
Optional Unleashed (go completely wireless)
Optional AC Adapter
Optional Extended Warranty

I have the MJ mounted at the masthead, and an Unleashed for the wireless network. Has worked perfectly for 2 seasons. No installation problems, worked fine just from start! Very convenient to switch countries in the program to comply with national regulations. In one harbor we used a hotel network, in another a nearby RV network. Highly recommended.

The product is easy to install and setup. The UI is pretty basic but enough to get connected. I can install some other firmware in the future if I need more functionality.
The device is a router which is pretty nice since I don't have to have a router in the cabin for all of my devices connected to my ship wifi. One less device to power! I just connected an extra access point to the Xtreme and boom, ship wifi!
I have the Xtreme connecting to my marina's network or my hotspot, depending on which network is better. I cannot speak to the speed of the device since my internet connections are very slow. I can get at least 39ms ping time, and 22 mbps but is purely a limitation of the internet connections near me.
I like how plenty of ethernet cable is included and the junction box is nice so that I do not have to crimp on a new end. The ethernet cable is also shield.
I installed the Xtreme inside of a 2in mast so only the antenna is showing. This should make it more difficult for someone to spot and steal.

I saw the product on my friends boat in Tel-Aviv Israel and it worked just fine and made the marinas wifi signal stronger. However lately there has been problems of receiving internet although the signal is strong. My friend can receive internet via laptop or telephone but not via Bit Storm. Do you have an idea a suggestion to make it work?? (Bitstorm: We require more details in order to assist.)
2. I am in the process of installing my own system and my question is : I am reluctant to cut the 23 meter cable, while only 15 is needed. If I leave 8 meters in a coil, will the signal be weaker this way using the whole length and not cutting 8 meters off using the junction box?? (Bitstorm: no loss of signal will be experienced as dat is carried via digital as opposed to older analog technology.)
Please reply asap

Like most after research we have many choices from which to choose. Not being a techie all of the perameters were confusing. In the end I relied in personal recomendations and I have not been disapointed.
The unit performs better than expected and I dont even have it positioned up the mast yet. It took a few minutes to understand how the software worked but after a short bit of help from Customer Service, I was good to go in no time.
